REGISTRY DEPARTMENT POST: PRINCIPAL ASSISTANT REGISTRAR – HUMAN RESOURCE Reports to the Deputy Registrar – Human Resource The successful candidate will underpin the Deputy Registrar in providing employee resourcing activities directed at the attainment of the University mandate. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Assisting the Deputy Registrar in formulation and reviewing of policies as well as implementation and monitoring of Human Resource policies. Identifying issues required for policy change. Assisting in ensuring that Policies, Standard Operating Procedures, processes and systems are adhered to by the Human Resource Section on all employee resourcing activities. Responsible for collecting information for preparation of work plans and reports and ensures timeous submission of the same to the Deputy Registrar, Human Resource. Coordination of various HR portfolios managed by the Human Resource Officers. Ensuring that each Human Resource portfolio establishes and implements the relevant Human Resource metrics and dashboard Monitoring compliance with University policies and human resource legislation in the day to day activities of the department. Keeping abreast with trends, best practices, regulatory changes and new technologies in human resource management and employment laws. Performs other duties as assigned.

Work/Educational Requirements

First degree in either Human Resource Management, Psychology or Sociology; A Master’s Degree in one of the following areas: Human Resource Management, Psychology, Sociology, Strategic Management and Corporate Governance, Possession of a related professional qualification is a must; At least five (5) years relevant post-qualification experience in human resource practise of which two (2) should have been at supervisory level University experience will be an added advantage. Person Specification Knowledge of HR Systems and data bases In-depth knowledge and application of Zimbabwean Labour Laws a must; Very good negotiation, coordination and conflict resolution skills; Ability to act with integrity and professionalism; Good verbal and written communication skills.
