Baseline Survey Consultant - Sustainable Agriculture and Livelihoods Diversification Program: Zimbabwe Women’s Bureau (ZWB)
Deadline: 7 July 2021
Background and description of project
- Zimbabwe Women’s Bureau (ZWB) was started by a group of women to address the social and economic injustices that were faced by women then.
- The women realised the serious effects of patriarchy which derailed the advancement of women from different circles.
- Some of the key issues they addressed at the very beginning included gender equality, adult literacy, food security, women economic instability through economic strengthening among others.
- ZWB is a grassroots organization and it uses clubs and Internal Savings and Lending Schemes (ISAL) methodology to develop women which have been adopted from the time of its formation. ZWB operates in 35 districts in all provinces of Zimbabwe and has membership of approximately 25 000 across all districts of operation.
ZWB intends to carry out the sustainable agriculture and livelihoods diversification program, targeting 150 smallholder women farmers in Mutoko district. The target women farmers are those who are already engaged in small scale market (vegetables) gardening. The gardens are a source of food for self-consumption and income generation, making them a key livelihood strategy for most women households in the district.
