pigad is a non-profit organisation that was registered as a Zimbabwean Development Trust in 2014 and has been assisting smallholder poultry farmers and youth led micro enterprises in Goromonzi, Marondera, Murewa, Hwedza, Mazowe, Chipinge and Chimanimani Districts of Zimbabwe. The overall goal of the support is to contribute to improving the livelihood of young adults in rural communities by creating 990 jobs in the poultry sector and strengthening of 28 small farmers' organizations. In line with this objective, pigad intends to conduct an end of project evaluation that will assess the impact of the project with regards to the intended outcomes of the project.

Purpose and Objective of the impact assessment
The evaluation is intended to provide an insight into the effects of the project in bringing about change in the targeted communities during implementation and possibly after implementation effects. The evaluation will also help pigad draw some lessons learned and use them in refining future interventions.

Duties and Responsibilities

Expected Outcomes and Deliverables
The Consultant(s) shall be expected to produce an inception report upon commencement of the evaluation.
The Inception Report will detail the agreed upon methodologies to be employed in the evaluation to achieve the objectives outlined above. The Inception Report should also include the finalized activity plan and a structural outline of the final evaluation report. The report should be shared and approved by pigad before commencement of the data collection and analysis.
A validation meeting should be conducted where the preliminary results of the study are presented at pigad Head office in Harare. After incorporating comments from the pigad staff, a final report should be submitted to pigad’s Management team and the M & E Expert.

Qualifications and Experience

Required Qualifications / Experience
• A post graduate qualification in Monitoring and Evaluation, Statistics, Data Analytics or any other related field is required. A qualification in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Business Management, Animal Science or other related disciplines is also strongly required.
• Vast experience in carrying out evaluations in Zimbabwe. Experience in conducting agribusiness project evaluations especially with a focus on poultry and SMEs is an added advantage.
• Experience with working with smallholder farmers and young men and women is a pre requisite
• Strong skills in qualitative and quantitative data analysis.
• Strong experience in questionnaire development, interview techniques and managing Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and Key Informant Interviews (KII).
• Experience in using mobile data collection systems such as KoBoCollect will be an added advantage.
• Experience in facilitating data collection exercises and ability to use modern communication platforms such as Skype and Zoom.
• Excellent organising, facilitating, presentation and communication skills.
• Excellent English report writing skills.
