Partners for Integrated Growth and Development (pigad) a duly registered Zimbabwean NGO (PVO 25/21) is seeking to engage an Procurement & Purchasing Intern. pigad was established in 2014 to empower communities through relief, rehabilitation and developmental programmes in both urban and rural communities. pigad is supporting smallholder farmers to produce & market eggs and youth led SMEs using market led approaches. Currently, pigad is implementing an agribusiness development intervention in seven districts of Mashonaland East, Mashonaland Central and Manicaland Provinces with a targeted outreach of 990 young adults including SMEs.
The position
pigad is seeking to recruit an Intern to support the procurement, purchasing and administration.

Duties and Responsibilities

Study, understand and apply and adhere to the organizational and donor procurement procedures; Provide procurement support in accordance with the organizational procurement procedures; Support in placing purchase orders, selecting and negotiating with approved suppliers and evaluating their reliability; Support in procuring materials from suppliers at the lowest cost, with consideration to quality, reliability and urgency of need; Maintaining a Supplier List and contact database; Support the development and improvement of procurement related templates and documentation; Support in maintaining procurement records and files as needed; Perform basic analytical tasks and industry research/market analysis; Perform any other duties as assigned
This description is not exhaustive, and the post holder may be required to undertake duties that are broadly in line with the above responsibilities.

Qualifications and Experience

Professional knowledge and experience
A University Degree, Higher National Diploma or Diploma in Purchasing and Supply or related studies from a reputable institution. Knowledge and understanding of the development sector (mainly agriculture and agribusiness) will be an added advantage. Membership to a Professional Procurement Board is an added advantage. Excellent computer skills with command on Microsoft excel and PowerPoint among other packages.
