We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and highly qualified Project Manager - Agroecology to ensure WWF Zimbabwe applies the highest standards in the promotion of sustainable agricultural livelihoods underpinned by agro-ecological principles and practices while demonstrably improving the community resilience, and conservation of important habitat in the Kavango-Zambezi (KAZA) Transfrontier Conservation Area.

I. Mission of the Department: To conserve and maintain a wide range of biodiversity and ecological processes and services and contribute to sustainable livelihoods in places that matter to Zimbabweans and the WWF Network.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide technical support on agriculture and conservation management matters and take leadership in delivering a Bengo funded “Food Security and Habitat Protection”, on the Zimbabwe side of KAZA.
• Provide leadership in engaging with stakeholders including relevant government departments, local and traditional authorities, community representatives, private sector partners and supporting development of public-private partnerships.
• Spearhead the delivery and uptake of agro-ecological interventions within the project, and ensure alignment of project co-implementation between Country and Global teams.
• Oversee the development and timely implementation of an effective monitoring, evaluation and learning plan for tracking programme milestones, achievement of deliverables and application of the project’s Environmental Social Safeguards Framework (ESSF).
• Where appropriate, support the long-term resource mobilization and influencing of Agroecology and related strategy for WWF Zimbabwe.

Qualifications and Experience

• University degree in an appropriate field (Agriculture, Agroecology, Natural Resource Management, Ecology or related field) with significant knowledge and understanding of the sustainable agricultural, conservation and climate resilience. An advanced university degree would be an added advantage.
• At least 5 years professional experience leading, developing, and managing sustainable agriculture and/or conservation projects;
• Experience in the use of participatory management approaches and directly working with small-scale farming communities in agriculture and natural resources management;
• Knowledge of and experience in project monitoring and evaluation, and ESSF.
• Knowledge of the institutional and legal framework pertaining to agriculture and natural resources management as well as of relevant policy issues in Zimbabwe.

Required Skills and Competencies

• Proven project planning, management, implementation and evaluation skills;
• Excellent interpersonal skills (tact, diplomacy, discretion and impartiality) including the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships at all levels, including with local communities, government agencies, the not-for-profit sector, private sector and the scientific community.
• Excellent analytical and advisory skills with high work standards and ability to promote team synergy in a multi-cultural work environment.
• Ability to work and communicate effectively with a broad spectrum of individuals within a broad range of cultural environment.
• Adaptable, flexible, able to take initiative and prioritize among competing demands
• Excellent oral and written communications skills in English; and
• Identifies and aligns with the core values of the WWF organization: Courage, Integrity, Respect & Collaboration.
