Job Description
The Midwife is responsible for providing comprehensive, safe and compassionate maternity care to women throughout pregnancy, labour, delivery and the postpartum period. The role includes supporting mothers and newborns, providing breastfeeding and newborn-care education, preparing expectant mothers for childbirth, conducting preventive health screenings, and promoting maternal and infant health. The Midwife also provides appropriate education, guidance and emotional support to new parents while working collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure quality patient care.
Duties and Responsibilities
Providing antenatal and postpartum care
Comprehensive care during labour and delivery
Providing education for new parents on infant care
Supporting new mothers that are breastfeeding with education and training
Preparing pregnant women for what to expect during the birthing process
Performing preventive health screenings and tests
Any other duties that may be prescribed by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience
Diploma in Midwifery.
Current Practicing Certificate (NCZ).
Three (3) years’ experience will be an added advantage.
Excellent supervisory skills.
Good problem solving and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication skills.
