Set clear expectations and work objectives which achieve business plans, departmental and production targets.
Oversee short range mine planning including daily, weekly, monthly and yearly mine scheduling including drill/blast, loading, hauling, dewatering and other special projects.
Collaborate the mine dewatering and pit hydrology planning with the Technical Services and Engineering departments.
Identify potential issues and collaborate with service departments to maintain, prevent, mitigate or solve them in real time.
Drive initiatives to optimize existing business system, processes, practices and equipment to improve the overall performance of the Mining function.
Produce daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly technical reports to guide and monitor the progress towards meeting business objectives.
Ensure the required manpower and equipment are in place to achieve planned activities while meeting budgeted costs.
Provide strong leadership and mentors team members to operate in a manner consistent with the organisation’s values.
Recommend and implement standards, programs, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with mining regulations and other applicable legislation.
Leading the miners’ safety, health and environmental programme to ensure attainment of the highest HSE standards.
Bachelor’s degree in Mine Engineering or related field, Master’s Degree a plus.
At least 10 – 15 years’ experience in mine engineering field, at least 4 of which must be in leadership or management role.
Preferred both underground and open pit operations experience.
Solid working knowledge of software used in mine planning.
Strong verbal and written communications skills.
