Job Summary

Managing environment, health and safety, production, engineering, warehousing and quality departments in order to achieve high quality, cost competitive products at the right time to the customers whilst ensuring plant machinery reliability at the same time coordinating various plant projects to ensure successful completion within budget and on time.

Duties and Responsibilities

Safety
o Strong support to maintain, develop and deliver the appropriate safety, quality
and environmental improvement culture to sustain and enhance first-class
performance levels, Zero TF1 & TF2 rates.
o Hazard and risk controls implementation at all work stations to ensure safety of
employees
o Creating and sustaining a safe work environment
Health
o Actively ensure compliance with regulatory occupational health obligations and
best practices to manage employee well being.
Environment
o Implementation and coordination of EMA, Saint Gobain Group Standards in
conservation of the environment in order to reduce pollution and attain
sustainable manufacturing status
o Drive sustainability initiatives to achieve group targets
Strategy
o Drive operational excellence through WCM methodology with a specific focus
on three pillars:
o Production – support business objectives through ensuring customer
satisfaction by provision of adequate product stocks at right quantity and time at
the right cost for the business
o Reliability – support business commitments to the market through uninterrupted
plant operations within budgeted cost
o Value chain – developing, documenting and implementing company’s
comprehensive value chain plan (Raw material, spares and finished goods)
which will drive optimal perfomance
o Provide input into the strategic planning process as part of the Management
team
Quality
o Ensure customer satisfaction and positive brand reputation through delivery of
quality products conforming to customer requirements and declared
specifications
o Implementation and management of on-line and offline quality control to ensure
delivery of a quality product that satisfies the customer and enhance product
reputation
Leadership
o Operating as part of the Management team
o Succession planning
o Ensure efficient manpower utilization and effective payroll cost management
o People development through formal and non-formal training
o Manage the OPEX & CAPEX in line with budget or forecast
o Ensure compliance with business control requirements
Asset Care and Reliability
o Ensure plant performance KPIs are attained
o Ensure plant maintenance is executed on time and within budget
o Ensure 100% execution of annual maintenance plan
o Coordinate plant improvement projects
o Coordinate implementation of CAPEX projects
Inventory
o Create supply plans that ensure availability of materials or products.
o Monitor forecasts to identify changes or to determine their effect on value chain
activities.
o Analyze inventories to determine how to increase stock turns, reduce waste, or
optimise customer service
o Plan distribution operations including all the processes of inbound,
warehousing, outbound, and reverse logistics
o Develop global implementation of distribution best practices such as system
integration and optimisation, inventory control, demand planning and SKU
optimization.
Operational Efficiencies
o Ensure process performance KPIs are attained
o Ensure set production targets are attained
o Ensure product and process quality KPIs are attained
o Coordinate WCM activities
Risk Co-ordinator for the Site
Other adhoc projects
o All such duties and/or activities assigned by management/board as and when required.

Qualifications and Experience

• Qualifications required to fulfil the role
o Degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical) or
equivalent,
o Masters Degree (Operations Management, Manufacturing) preferable

• Specific Work Experience, Knowledge and Skills required to fulfil the role
o Minimum of 5 years work experience in manufacturing, mining or similar
operations at middle to senior management level
o Knowledge of safety,enviromental and quality systems
o Proactive Management Activities ( WCM)
o Project management
o Financial understanding & Budgeting
o Negotiating and good communication skills
o Strong people management and development
o Previous manufacturing and or heavy engineering background
