Women Against All Forms of Discrimination is a women’s organization; advocating for the full attainment of women’s rights, stipulated in the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW). WAAD is looking for an open-minded competent mature person to serve as a Resource Mobilization & Communication Officer.


General-purpose


Reporting to the National Coordinator, the purpose of this role is to drive a sustainable long-term organizational funding strategy and building an increasingly, diversified network of resource partners including development partners, policymakers, philanthropists, and foundations who share in the vision of WAAD. The officer will lead the monitoring of contributions, donor trends, financial projections and recommend targeted efforts on new funding opportunities and approaches targeting partners that provide funds, technical support, and other forms of collaboration to meet the current and future needs of WAAD. The incumbent will also be responsible for establishing and promoting the brand of WAAD nationally, regionally, and internationally, raising awareness about the organization’s work at various forums and ensuring transparency and regular information sharing with the public.

Duties and responsibilities


Resource mobilization strategy


Provide substantive inputs into the donor intelligence strategy and the consolidated organizational strategy for resource mobilization; Implement components of the resource mobilization strategy, including monitoring, analyzing, and documenting progress toward targets; Monitor donor policies, trends, and funding mechanisms for WAAD initiatives, advising the National Coordinator on the development, implementation, and revision of the resource mobilization strategy; Work collaboratively across WAAD to monitor resource projections and scenarios and develop targeted adjustments to the resource mobilization strategy to facilitate secure resource streams; Lead the development of resource mobilization presentations, proposals, briefing notes


Donor engagement


Lead the assessment of opportunities for resource mobilization through mapping of current and potential donors; Utilize research and analytics to identify and recommend emerging sources of funding and assess their current usage and potential for the future; Develop donor profiles and implement solicitation strategies with the objective of mobilizing predictable and sustainable long-term funding for WAAD programmes; Plan and facilitate workshops and other interactive sessions on innovative financing issues; assist in developing action plans; Support the National Coordinator to identify opportunities to leverage private-sector investments and innovative financing mechanisms; Provides substantive backstopping to relevant meetings, conferences, etc, including proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations on resource mobilization; Lead research on innovative approaches to donor interactions, including lessons learned from private sector investments; Contribute to the development and consolidation of external communication materials for donors including presentations, reports, and proposals.


Knowledge management


Identify and synthesize best practices and lessons learned directly linked to resource mobilization and partnership-building activities; Plan and contribute to the development of the organization-wide capacity, processes, and knowledge on resource mobilization.


Non-technical responsibilities as WAAD staff


Positively contribute to team discussions and the effective running of the organization; Cross-departmental collaboration, compliance with organizational policies; Promote WAAD’s work on social media; Perform other duties and tasks, consistent with the skills and expertise, as required in non-routine circumstances; Be willing to adapt to different tasks and different cross-organisational tasks, this includes but is not limited to helping deliver WAAD’s events and activities.

Qualifications and experience


The position seeks a mature woman below 35 years who has a proven record of working with women, key, and vulnerable populations (SW, AGYW, PWUD, LGBTIQ, people with disability), a successful middle - senior strategic management experience in resource mobilization, programme planning and coordination, consensus building and asset sustainability; The coordinator must be capable of negotiating and communicating with partners and stakeholders; Applicants should have at least a qualification in Social Sciences, Law, Business, Administration and / or Public Health. At least 3 years’ experience in project and grant management, of which 2 years should have been through working with women, key, and vulnerable populations; Fluency in written English, with the ability to adapt the style of writing to a range of different communications. Excellent analytic, written, communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, including use of Proficient in MS Office and databases; Understanding and willingness to conduct work and demonstrate behaviours in line with WAAD’s values and policies.
