A national NGO operating across Zimbabwe is looking for a qualified and experienced incumbent to fill in the volunteer vacant as indicated above. The organization coordinates diverse membership of NGOs across the country.
Expected functions and responsibilities
General functions: Under the direct supervision of the Programmes Lead, in coordination with Program; the successful candidates will be expected to work on a contract-based basis during the assigned period.
Among other administrative duties, he/she is expected to:
Assist in researching, designing and develop Social and Economic Development programmes /projects in close coordination with the relevant units; Draft project documents, log frames and budgets for submission to donors in coordination with the Programmes Lead; Assist in the implementation of the existing Social and Economic Development projects within the organization; Provide key support to the organization and its members on strengthening the coordination of Civil Society Initiative in the area of Poverty Reduction and; Social and Economic Development; Participate in coordination meetings with partner NGOs, Government and the donors, as may be required; Represent the organization at high-level dialogue and engagement fora and meetings with the key stakeholders from the public sector, private sector and civil society; Help in preparing and submit timely, quality routine, special reports and briefings as required; Provide operational and logistical support towards the implementation of project activities and the fulfillment of obligations; Perform any other duties as may require that commensurate with the post holder’s abilities and responsibilities.

Professionalism: Strong communication and analytical skills and ability to rapidly process and integrate diverse information from various sources; proven ability in advocacy, management, writing and editing to meet tight deadlines; thorough knowledge of development issues, understanding of, and experience in, dealing with the media;
Communication: Speaks and writes clearly and effectively; listens to others, correctly interprets messages from others and responds appropriately; asks questions to clarify, and exhibits interest in having two-way communication; tailors’ language, tone, style and format to match audience; demonstrates openness in sharing information and keeping people informed.
Planning and Organizing: Develops clear goals that are consistent with agreed strategies; identifies priority activities and assignments; adjusts priorities as required; allocates appropriate amount of time and resources for completing work; foresees risks and allows for contingencies when planning; monitors and adjusts plans and actions as necessary; uses time efficiently.
Desired qualifications and experience
A first-level University Degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced University Degree. The Preferred qualifications in the areas of Development Studies, Social Work, Economics and Monitoring and Evaluation. A minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in development including experience in management of development projects is an added advantage. Previous experience of working with and through NGOs and familiarity with local and international NGOs will be an added advantage.
