Job Summary

Softwarehouse trading as Paynow is a rapidly growing equal-opportunity employer seeking a results-driven Assistant Accountant. The job incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that financial information is recorded and maintained in an accurate and timely manner. The ideal candidate should be capable of learning online systems with minimal supervision. He or she should be extremely organized and have great time management skills. The position reports to the Accountant.

Duties and Responsibilities

Assists with the preparation of financial statements
perform reconciliations
Maintains general ledgers
Assist in cash flow management
Posts journal entries for expenses and revenue
Maintains and records fixed assets
Reconciles inventory accounts and liaises with the operations department to ensure adequate stock levels are maintained at all times
Prepares and files statutory reporting as necessary
Assists in the development and implementation of policies and SOPs to enhance the effective and efficient management processes and practices
Assists in providing business support for key non-financial areas
Admin role in Paynow’s ecommerce systems

Qualifications and Experience

Knowledge, Skills, and competencies

Knowledge of tax laws
Knowledge of bank reconciliation processes
Stock management
Accounting (IFRS) standards
Advanced Excel skills, and appreciation of google suite
Report writing skills
Analytical abilities.

Qualifications and experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent
3+ years’ related experience
Hands-on experience working with general ledgers
Experience in a Fintech environment or similar is preferred.
Position requires a highly self-motivated individual who can work well under pressure
Team player and highly assertive
Strong written and verbal communication skills
High attention to detail.
