About the Chinhoyi Vocational Training Centre
The institution enrolls both Catholic and non-Catholic students with focus a on inculcating Christian values as the foundation of quality vocation training education that encompass all the aspects of life and promote well rounded students who will be able to contribute to the integral human development guided by Christian values. At the present moment Chinhoyi Vocational Training Centre is the only privately owned Vocational training institution by a Church denomination in Mashonaland West province. The institution affords target population with higher education that promote spiritual development of students through impartation of Christian values that mold them to be morally upright. The Catholic Diocese of Chinhoyi is thoroughly committed to protection and safeguarding of children and all persons, with zero tolerance to any form of abuse. Duties and Responsibilities
The responsibilities and duties of the principal include:
• Overall Accounting Officer of the institution to the Education Secretary and stakeholders.
• Ensure proper planning, budgeting and accountability of the institution’s financial resources.
• Plan, direct, coordinate and ensure effective implementation of the Institutions education programs, students and staff activities within the limits set by Education authorities and the Board of Governors.
• Attend to Human resource matters of the institution in conformity with the prevailing policies and statutory regulations.
• Daily supervision of the department tutors and other staff at the Institute
• Initiate development projects for the institution and mobilize resources for their implementation.
• Ensure annual reviews and enrichment of the Institution’s curriculum and report on the same.
• Prepare progress and summary reports for presentation and submission to the relevant authorities and supervisors.
• Establish and maintain relationships with other educational and industrial establishment.
• Ensuring that Diocesan and the parent Ministry academic policies and curriculum are followed.
• Developing and tracking benchmarks for measuring institutional success in line with Diocesan development Plan.
• Implementing strategies that identify and support students’ innovative potential.
• Meeting with parents and administrators on a regular basis for problem resolution.
• Enforcing discipline when necessary.
• Perform any other tasks relevant to the job that may be assigned from time to time by the authorities
Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
• The ideal candidate for the Chinhoyi Rural Vocational Training Centre Principal job must hold a first degree in Engineering, Mechanics, other technical course of study or Education (Technical)
• Post graduate qualifications in Technical / Vocational Teacher Education/ Education administration is a must for persons with first degree in Engineering.
• Proficiency in computer, i.e. Word, Excel, Power Point, Microsoft Office, etc.
• Clear understanding of Vocational School Management.
• Excellent management skills especially in the areas of finance and human resource.
• Excellent teaching skills.
• Independent decision-making skills.
• Excellent Oral and written English communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to work with minimal or no supervision.
• Mature; Commitment and understanding of the Catholic ethos, core values and Education ethics.
• High and proven integrity levels.
