Alternatively, are you a dependent of a COID pensioner/COID Person with Disabilities/ Dependent of a COID Pensioner or dependent of a fatally injured worker who wishes to pursue post-school education and training at a public institution?

If you have applied for a Bursary from the Compensation Fund, but have not heard back within two months, it is likely that your application was unsuccessful. This Bursary is available to unemployed persons who have suffered a permanent disablement due to occupational injuries or diseases, dependants of COID Persons with Disabilities, and dependants of fatally injured workers who have been accepted into a recognized Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) College, Community Education and Training (CET) College, or Higher Education Institution (HEI). Preference will be given to those who demonstrate excellence and potential in their studies.

Applicants who meet the qualifications may be offered a renewable grant that takes care of tuition fees, required educational resources, a monthly allowance, and accommodation at a certified school, depending on the amount of financial aid available and their academic success, for the entire length of their selected study course.

In order to be eligible for this program, you must have a fully completed application form, proof of residence, claim number, certified copies of your identity document, parent(s) or guardian's identity document/death certificate (COID persons with disabilities), grade 12 June results/highest school grade, proof of acceptance from a public Post School Education and Training (PSET), proof of unemployment letter from the Department of Employment and Labour or an Affidavit, certification and verification of physical disability by a Health Care Professional or Disability Support Office/WCL forms (Final medical report), and may be required to complete a psychometric assessment. Additionally, you must be an unemployed South African citizen with permanent disability due to occupational injuries/diseases, a dependant of a COID person with disabilities, or a dependant of a fatally injured worker.

Visit the nearest Provincial Labour Centre or go to www.labour.gov.za to download and fill out the application form for this bursary opportunity. The form will include a full list of study fields funded. Unemployed persons with permanent disablement caused by occupational injuries/diseases are not restricted to the qualifications.
