Job Summary

A member of the SME Association of Zimbabwe in the renewable energy sector is looking to recruit two electricians. The position of electrician consists of assessments, installing, maintaining, and repairing of electrical systems and fixtures. It also consists of ensuring that work is in accordance with relevant codes and installing of low voltage systems.

Duties and Responsibilities

Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and
fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
• Use a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power
tools, and electrical testing equipment.
• Run assessments on applications with existing or installed general electrical equipment and wiring.
• Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local
codes.
• Understanding and implementing methods of electrical system design, methods, guidelines and line
diagrams.
• Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
• Commissioning and testing of electrical installation systems.
• Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing
devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for
adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
• Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to
locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem. Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures,
using hand tools and power tools.
• Direct and train workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
• Periodical assistance on stocktaking and Draft scope of works and reports on projects

Qualifications and Experience

• Electrical Engineering Diploma/Degree
• 3 yrs Experience in electrical equipment and installations will be advantageous
• Computer skills will be advantageous
• Drawing skills will be advantageous
• Located in Harare, Zimbabwe
• Training for associate degree
• Gender = Male
• Driver’s Licence = Advantageous
• Passport will be advantageous
• Technical background will be advantageous
• Industrial market background will be advantageous
• Age = 25-55
