MOTOR MECHANICS (ARTISAN CLASS 1) – 2 POSITIONS

Applications are invited from suitably qualified Class 1 Journeyman Motor Mechanics to fill two (2) Motor Mechanic positions which have arisen within Intrachem (Pvt) Ltd Zimbabwe.

Intrachem (Pvt) Ltd is a leading supplier and manufacturer of mining explosives and accessories, serving the mining and construction industries in Zimbabwe and beyond.
THE ROLE
The Motor Mechanic will be responsible for the inspection, servicing, maintenance, and repair of company vehicles, Mobile Manufacturing Units (MMUs), plant equipment, and associated mechanical systems to ensure maximum reliability, safety, and operational availability.
Duties and Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Preventive & Corrective Maintenance
* Conduct routine servicing, inspections, and preventive maintenance on company vehicles, MMUs, generators, compressors, pumps, and other company equipment.
* Diagnose mechanical faults and undertake repairs in line with manufacturer specifications and company standards.
* Attend to breakdowns and emergency repairs to minimise operational downtime.
* Inspect and test repaired equipment to verify functionality and safety.
2. Equipment Reliability & Availability
* Ensure equipment and vehicles are always maintained in a roadworthy and operational condition.
* Monitor equipment performance and recommend maintenance interventions to improve reliability and efficiency.
* Support planned maintenance programmes and equipment refurbishment initiatives.
3. Workshop & Inventory Management
* Maintain workshop tools, diagnostic equipment, and work areas in a clean and serviceable condition.
* Monitor and account for spare parts, lubricants, consumables, and maintenance materials.
* Ensure proper care and accountability of tools and workshop resources.
4. Safety, Health, Environment & Security (SHES)
* Adhere to all company SHES policies, procedures, and statutory requirements.
* Ensure safe working practices during maintenance and repair activities.
* Identify and report equipment-related hazards, defects, and unsafe conditions.
5. Operational Support
* Work closely with fellow mechanics, operators, supervisors, and technical teams to ensure equipment availability and operational continuity.
* Participate in improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing equipment performance and maintenance efficiency.

Qualifications and Experience
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
* Class 1 Journeyman Motor Mechanic (Artisan Class 1).
* Minimum of 1 year’s post-qualification experience in vehicle, heavy equipment, or plant maintenance.
* A clean Class 4 Driver’s Licence; Class 2 will be an added advantage.
* Good communication and teamwork skills.
* Must be resident in Kwekwe or willing to relocate.
* Available for standby duty and callouts to attend to breakdowns.
* Medically fit and able to obtain police clearance.

Quality & Attention to Detail — Delivers high-quality workmanship and ensures repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities meet required standards.
