Job Summary
Secondary Book Press (Pvt) Ltd is inviting applications from suitably qualified personnel to fill in the post of Development Editor for Primary. The incumbents will report to the Head of Publishing.
Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities include:
1. Read and review manuscripts from solicited and unsolicited authors
2. Copy and content editing
3. Effecting author and editor corrections
4. Text layout and illustrate as recommended
5. Proof reading books before sign off, proofread and edit spelling, grammar, and style errors in manuscripts.
6. Verify content and information.
7. Review and revise content for accuracy and quality, including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and
syntax.
8. Edit chapters as authors complete them to evaluate style and structure and identify potential problems.
9. Fact check manuscripts for historical or technical accuracy.
10. Brief authors clearly and in line with the approved concept, work with and support author teams for
the duration of the writing period to ensure that content is well written and submitted on time.
11. Work thoroughly on the manuscript to ensure suitability of content, syllabus match, approach, language
level and cultural sensitivity.
Qualifications and Experience
Requirements and qualifications:
1. Degree / Diploma in Publishing, English and Communication Skills or related.
2. Diploma in Primary education
3. Excellent command of English.
4. Good research skills.
5. Someone who is detail oriented.
6. Planning and organisation skills.
7. Knowledge of different software’s and applications. Knowledge of InDesign is an added advantage.
8. Preferably a primary school teacher.
