Job Summary

Reporting to the Programs Director, the Deputy Programs Director will provide technical direction and day-to-day project management support for the implementation of the project, including supervision and coordination of senior project staff, teams and partners; and maintaining strong relationships with provincial and district level government representatives, as well as community stakeholders, to ensure effective and responsive service delivery to AGYW and their families.

Duties and Responsibilities

Provide technical direction and supervision to the senior project team and partners to ensure program implementation is in alignment with project objectives, PEPFAR technical standards, best practices in the field, and the global evidence base for high impact AGYW HIV and GBV prevention and response programming.
Oversee project implementation in target districts in coordination with other program partners and stakeholders.
Along with the COP, strategize and lead rigorous reviews of program activities and data to continuously improve comprehensive service delivery to AGYW and their families.
Liaise with government, NGO and private sector partners and stakeholders.
Keep abreast of research and policy developments to inform program strategy.
Develop high-quality technical reports and deliverables for timely submission to CDC.
Spearhead documentation of all project activities and achievements.
Participate in sound overall management of project implementation, in coordination with technical, monitoring and evaluation, and finance and grant management teams, to ensure technical quality and coordination of services.
Ensure project compliance with donor requirements, policies, and regulations.

Qualifications and Experience

Master’s degree in public health, social sciences, or a related field required.
At least five years of management experience on AGYW or community-based public health programs required.
At least five years of programming experience for AGYW, with expertise in one or more of the following areas: HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, care and support; social and child/youth protection; system strengthening; gender; economic strengthening; positive parenting; nutrition; and education and early childhood development.
Demonstrated skills in strategic planning, program management, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation.
Experience supervising program staff and partner organizations.
Experience collaborating with government institutions, especially the Ministry of Public Service, Labor and Social Welfare.
Demonstrated strong managerial, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Understanding of the Zimbabwean operating environment and familiarity with national strategic plans and policies.
Experience implementing PEPFAR-funded programs, including excellent knowledge of approaches and regulations.
Strong writing, oral presentation, and communication skills in English. Fluency in other local languages a plus.
